7 thousand convicts owe 296 billion tenge in claims

In Kazakhstan, 296 billion tenge must be paid to 7 thousand convicts serving their sentences. The reason for such a colossal debt is the lack of work for prisoners, reports Channel One Eurasia.

According to a survey conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 99% of those serving sentences want to work in prisons. They don't mind helping families, paying back their lawsuits, and with jobs, they're more likely to get parole.

For example, there are about 400 convicts in the capital colony-settlement. They cannot employ everyone, so they turned to businessmen. 10 companies responded, offering more than 500 vacancies. Salary - from 80 thousand tenge plus free meals. The Department of the Criminal Correctional System assumed responsibility for ensuring security with an officer visiting the place of work.
